From a Caf Favourite to a Cup at Home Since 2012, our Hot Chocolate has been one of the most loved drinks at the JusTrufs caf in Jakkur, North Bangalore. What began as a closely guarded recipe made with Belgian chocolate slowly evolved as we started making our own chocolate using locally sourced Indian cocoa beans.Like everything we serve, this recipe went through endless tastings and trials before it ever reached our guests and the response was consistently heart-warming.This is the Worlds best Hot Chocolate.We heard that more often than we could count. The Question That Sparked It All Almost every guest eventually asked us the same thing: Can I take this home for my family in another city? That question stayed with us. We realised there was a gap truly good, authentic hot chocolate simply wasnt easily available for home consumption. And if theres one thing weve learned over the years, its that the best ideas often come from listening closely to your customers. So, Why Not Bottle It? Our first thought was to bottle and distribute our caf hot chocolate across Bangalore. But that came with challenges glass bottles, high transport costs, limited shelf life, and the risk of spoilage. We also wanted flexibility: ✔ Works with dairy ✔ Works with dairy-free milk ✔ Safe and consistent, every single time A bottled product didnt make sense. Our Skepticism About Pre-Mixes To be honest, we were doubtful that a hot chocolate pre-mix could ever deliver the same satisfaction as a cup made with real, high-quality chocolate. So we tasted. A lot. Indian brands. International brands. Premium, mass-market everything we could get our hands on. None of them felt right. So we decided to create a soul-satisfying Hot Chocolate mix for your home Getting It Right We worked with a global supplier of exceptional-quality cocoa and began developing recipes. Then refined them. Then refined them some more. We tested for: Cocoa intensity Smoothness and mouthfeel Ease of stirring Overall balance and comfort Friends, loyal customers, and fellow chocolate lovers tasted every version, gave feedback, and pushed us to go further. It took over two years to arrive at a recipe we were completely proud of. Turning a Recipe Into a Product Once our recipe was perfect, we had to find the right partners for manufacturing, for scaling nationally, and for packaging that protected the product while looking and feeling premium. Our in-house designer, Trisha, conceptualised the packaging. We photographed the product, debated every word of copy, and fine-tuned the design over several months. Placing the final order felt like holding our breath a leap of faith backed by years of experience and learning. And Then, It Finally Arrived In November 2025, just after a hectic Diwali season, our Hot Chocolate Mix arrived. Over the next few months, we introduced it through pop-ups, making it available on our website, Blinkit, and Amazon learning something new at every step. The overwhelmingly positive feedback gave us a huge confidence boost.Even after 25 years of building JusTrufs, this journey reminded us how much there still is to learn.
